Uncomfortable and Some Sound Quality Problems July 30, 2010 Engineering Geek (Orlando FL) First, the comfort issue. The headset has its earpiece fixed in relation to the headband, so you can't swivel the earpiece to fit the contour of your head. For me, that makes it press harder on the rear part of my ear than on the front, and it makes the entire headset feel like it wants to slide off. I am going to try a fix to this by holding the metal headband in two pairs of pliers and applying a twist to it to give it the angle I need.
More importantly, the sound isn't all that good. The maximum volume is kind of low, but still well within a hearable volume. But the things seems to be prone to interference, since I hear broken talk on all calls, no matter where I am. If I hold my cell phone right next to the headset, the interference goes away, so I am sure it is a Bluetooth problem. I tested a couple other Bluetooth headsets I have and none of them have the problem. I wanted an over-the-head style for a specific purpose so none of those other ones fill the need. So I will just put up with the problem - I can deal with it.
Bluetooth Headset July 24, 2010 Drake McGinnis (OTTERBEIN, IN, US) This works great. It doesn't make my ear hurt the way the small bluetooth sets do. My wife and I both have one and use it all the time. $30.00 well spent.
As good as a land line! July 22, 2010 wallace (NY) The first time I heard my husband using this item I thought he was on his office land line, it really sounds that good. I had relied on the reviews from two truckers who liked it a lot and now we do too. We had just sent back three defective Motorola H17s, which sounded alright, but had battery level issues. For much less, this Emerson is superior in sound quality - I really can't tell when my husband is in his car on this device. He saids the sound quality on his end is also great. It is comfortable on and you don't have the ear bud/hook to deal with, easy to pair, instructions are clear. We both highly recommend this, scroll down and read the trucker reviews for more five star feedback.
Multi-Taskers Delight July 20, 2010 Greg-O (Kansas City, MO) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This item fits in a price/functionality niche between miniature ear-canal headsets and more expensive flexible mic-boom headsets with active noise reduction. The unit works well and I like that the device does not require insertion into my ear canal.
The device bluetooth transmission was recognized by my phone fine, and is relatively comfortable - except that a plastic "stop" on the expanding head brace digs into my bald head a little.
Reception is advertised as 30 feet, which is not as great as more expensive Blue Parrot headsets (90 feet, I believe), but still adequate for respectable mobility without needing to keep my phone on me. With a flexible gooseneck mic element, telephone conversants had no difficulty hearing me once the mic element was positioned properly.
The huge multi-function button on the earpiece is easy to locate by touch.
The package came loaded with both home and car charging options and I believe is a good value for this price point.
Works great with Ooma Telo! July 16, 2010 J. Hoffer (Orange County, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Purchased this headset to use in my home office using bluetooth with my Ooma Telo. Pared very easily and no dropped calls. Very clear reception, persons on the other end have no idea I am using a wireless headset. Very good battery life. Overall, prefer this type of headset to the "stick-it-in-ear" type with the sound pickup close to your ear.
