| Customer Reviews: keep looking May 18, 2010 RJCort (CA USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this Q1 headset after owning the V1 for over a year. The Q1 doesn't perform even close to what the V1 has in the past. The voice commands hardly ever perform the function requested. The volume is so low I have to press the earpiece into my ear when i am talking through it. I have contacted suppot and was told it is the fault of my Blackberry. even though it's the same BB I used with the V1. Blueant just won't admit it's not a good headset. Even after the promise that the new firmware will improve the headset it is exactly the same. Don't be like me, save your money and buy a Jawbone. It doesnt have voice commands but it does what it promises.
Q1 and Droid May 7, 2010 tsaro (NY, USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
While Droids are among the most powerful and well designed phones on the market, they all share limitations when it comes to hands-free dialing through a bluetooth headset. The BlueAnt Q1 promises to overcome those limitations with built-in voice recognition and number storage capabilities. Unfortunately, in my opinion, the implementation of those capabilities leaves much to be desired.
On the positive side, the Q1 is a reasonably well designed device that sits comfortably in my ear. Call quality is good, on a par with my old Plantronics V510. Controls work well, and the unique voice interface that allows you to talk with the phone is, in a word, adorable. But the key selling feature of the Q1 for Droid users is its ability to enable true hands-free dialing, and this is where it falls short. Unlike other bluetooth headsets, the Q1 allows you to store up to 8 speed dial numbers in the headset itself. You can then instruct the headset to dial those numbers on a Droid hands free. This feature works well enough as far as it goes, but the only way to input speed dial numbers into the headset is to wait for the desired number to call your INC, and then tell the headset to store the number after the call. With this absurdly awkward system, you can't program your voicemail number into speed dial, or any other number that doesn't call you first. That, plus the limit of only 8 speed dial numbers, reminds one of the old Yiddish joke: The food there is terrible. And the portions are so small.
All that said, if you're a Droid user and don't already own a bluetooth headset, you can balance the Q1's very limited hands-free capabilities against the call quality and comfort of higher rated headsets like the Plantronics Voyager Pro. But I can't recommend that a Droid user who already owns a working bluetooth headset switch to the Q1.
Works as well Bluetooth can - which disappoints March 1, 2010 James D. Howard (Aloha, OR, US) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
While the Blue Ant headset is a delightful product, overall - esp. its voice control and easy setup, it is subject to the vagaries of Bluetooth wireless radio - signal drops and various voice quality issues. I very much doubt is the fault of the Q1, as 2-way reception in "interference-free" areas is clear and noise-cancelled very, very well. I do wish the earpiece was slightly bendable; it is NOT - it is a rigid material and will break if you try to re-shape it even slightly.
