Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Pushing the limits of headset technology, the Voyager PRO is the most advanced noise-canceling Bluetooth headset available. Two noise-canceling microphones on a boom, AudioIQ? technology with its adaptive 20-band equalizer, and three layers of WindSmart technology ensure that you hear every word and that your voice is heard clearly despite the noise around you.

Amazon.com Product Description
Featuring the next-generation AudioIQ² digital signal processing (DSP) technology, the Plantronics Voyager Pro delivers superior noise and wind cancellation as well as rich, natural inbound audio so you can hear and be heard clearly in virtually any noisy environment--from windy sidewalks to hectic airports. This comfortable, behind-the-ear headset features two noise-canceling mics on a boom, AudioIQ² technology with its adaptive 20-band equalizer, and three layers of WindSmart technology. The pivoting mic boom lets you wear the headset on either ear and optimize the position of the two microphones. An automatic voice prompt alerts you to battery and mute status. It provides up to six hours of continuous talk time and five days of standby from single charge.

AudioIQ² and WindSmart Technologies
While other headsets deliver noise cancellation at the expense of overall audio quality, Voyager Pro's AudioIQ² technology and unique adjustable dual-microphone boom provide the advantage of capturing your voice close to your mouth so the AudioIQ² technology can more effectively remove ambient noise, while still maintaining the natural sound of your voice.

With its finely tuned adaptive 20-band equalizer, AudioIQ² makes you sound like you're in the same room as your caller, not miles apart. To achieve this, AudioIQ² makes use of two microphones--one that's focused on your speech and the other that picks out distracting background sounds, such as road hum and construction noise. It then compares the data from the two mics and eliminates the unwanted sounds, leaving your unique voice free to be heard clearly and naturally, as it was meant to be.

The dual microphones are also stacked with three layers of WindSmart technology. Stainless steel mic screens, acoustic fabrics, and an electronic filter in the mic circuitry--all aggressively block intrusive wind noise. The adjustable boom, which allows you to wear the headset on either ear, positions the mics where they can best capture your voice, further enhancing the sound quality.

See a schematic of the Voyager Pro's controls.

The Voyager Pro features a soft silicone ear tip that's ideal for acoustics and an ergonomic fit; a durable, flexible rubber that's suitable for continuous skin contact; and even weight distribution across multiple touch points to help avoid fatigue.
Engineered for Comfort and Your Mobile Lifestyle
The Plantronics Voyager Pro endured 24 rounds of human factors testing to perfect the design for all-day wearing, comfort, and stability. The behind-the-ear wearing style is perfectly counterbalanced so weight is distributed evenly, rendering it virtually weightless when worn. The Voyager Pro ear tip is made of soft silicone for an optimal fit and features a "sound channel" that helps distribute audio evenly to the ear.

Designed with the mobile professional-user in mind, it includes easily accessible power, volume and mute buttons and features voice prompts for low battery warnings and mute status. Finally, the lithium polymer battery provides up to six hours of continuous talk time and five days of stand-by time, exceeding the talk and standby times of most mobile phones.

5 out of 5 stars Works great in my Smart Car   March 15, 2010
Edward J. Metzler (Portland, OR)
I had another bluetooth head set and there was too much noise in my Smart car that bothered people I was speaking with. This head set is much better.

5 out of 5 stars really impressed!!! even with small ears and glasses, plus it cancelled out downpour in the car   March 14, 2010
Kathy
One thing I didn't pick up in other reviews is that the part of the earpiece that is up against your ear PLUS the part that loops over your ear is a rubbery substance. Since the earpiece is dangling from this rubbery substance, it is flexible and can really move around for a good fit. The headset is very, very comfortable. Also I have small ears and glasses - even though a bigger ear would be preferable it actually fits more securely than my past bare-bones plantronics headset. I called two friends from my car with a DOWNPOUR going on, banging on the roof and windshield (the big storm on the east coast 3/13-3/14 2010) and my wipers slapping. Neither of them could hear the racket, and it really was a racket. My one friend said it sounded like I was in my living room. I was shocked. Also both of them could hear me more clearly than with my old headset. "You sound more like YOU," was my one friend's comment. And when they picked up and started talking, I could hear them more clearly and with more volume. So I'm extremely satisfied. It synced with my iphone right away, no problem. Only issue is if someone calls me when I'm driving and I don't already have it on I will have to pull over to put it on... can't be done with one hand. Whoever said they couldn't get the earpiece off to try the other sizes didn't read the directions - tsk tsk :o) This headset is great!

1 out of 5 stars Profoundly disappointed   March 12, 2010
M. Combes
I had the gall to listen to one of Cnet's reviews raving about the Voyager Pro. Wrong. The Pro has a badly designed connection at the base of the earpiece. There's nothing holding the connector in place. It constantly tucked itself inward and made connecting the charging cord more difficult. Eventually after a week or two the connector went inside the earpiece and the cord no longer made a connection. An earlier version of Plantronics I bought--now used by my husband--has a plastic ring that keeps the connector in place.

I can't really say that the call quality is any better than my husband's earlier version. Plantronics to me is a 5-7 on a scale of 10 in overall quality. The products still have issues with poor engineering and design. I can't say the ear buds are that great either. They chafe my ears no matter how small or how cushioned the ear buds are.

3 out of 5 stars Sound quality excellent but too large for me   March 12, 2010
Cosmos Mom (Los Angeles, California United States)
Previously, I used a Motorola H710 for 2 years before deciding to order a new bluetooth headset and giving the H710 to my husband. Based on the Amazon reviews, I ordered the Voyager PRO and tried it for 1 week before returning it to Amazon. The sound quality of the Voyager PRO is excellent compared to the Motorola H710 and the Motorola H17 which I eventually purchased from Amazon. Everyone I spoke to commented that they thought I was speaking from a landline and their responses were equally good. However, I wear glasses and I found that wearing the headset was uncomfortable for me, especially the bulky earpiece. Also, I thought the speaker piece was much too big & even my long hair didn't cover the earpiece effectively. Because I usually don't wear a headset all the time, I wanted something much smaller that I could carry in my pocket or purse. The Voyager PRO is much larger & not nearly as compact as the Motorola H710 headset. So after more research on Amazon & CNET, I returned the Voyager PRO to Amazon (great return policy) and I ordered the Motorola H17. I like the Motorola H17 because it's so small. But I wish it had the comfortable earpiece of the H710 and the sound quality of the Voyager PRO. If you don't wear glasses and wear a bluetooth headset all the time, then buy the Voyager PRO because the sound quality is EXCELLENT.

5 out of 5 stars Great Headset   March 12, 2010

I have owned three other Plantronics Headsets as well as two Jawbones and this is by far my favorite one. It fits comfortably in the ear and it is very easy to operate.
