Product Description JAWBONE BTJAW2 JAWBONE 2 BLUETOOTH HEADSETELIMINATES REAL WORLD NOISE ;CAN ACCURATELY SEPARATE SPEECH FROM AMBIENT NOISE;VOICE ACTIVITY SENSOR IS ABLE TO DETECT WHEN THE PERSON IS TALKING & CAPTURE THE FREQUENCIES OF HIS OR HER SPEECH EVEN IN THE PRESENCE OF NOISE
Amazon.com Product Description Setting new standards for mobile voice clarity and personal style, the new Jawbone Bluetooth headset by Aliph represents a complete departure from the gadgetry of the mobile headset industry. Originally developed for military use in extreme environments, Jawbone features NoiseAssassin--a proprietary technology that eliminates background noise from mobile phone conversations. Jawbone is the only Bluetooth headset with a Voice Activity Sensor (VAS) that actually feels your speech, which helps Jawbone distinguish your voice from background noise.
The new Jawbone in black. | | | Widely recognized as the best Bluetooth headset on the market, the new Jawbone is 50 percent smaller than the original, award-winning Jawbone, offer over 4 hours of talk time, and comes with three earbuds and four earloops for a comfortable and personalized fit. Military-Grade NoiseAssassin Technology Developed over years of research for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), Jawbone's NoiseAssassin eliminates real world noise better than competing headset because it's the only hands free device that accurately separates human speech from ambient noise. Unmatched in its ability to remove noise from loud environments like busy streets, cars, crowded cafes, and airports, NoiseAssassin is comprised of two features unique to Jawbone: a patented Voice Activity Sensor (VAS) and proprietary Digital Signal Processing (DSP) algorithms. Jawbone is the only Bluetooth headset with a VAS that feels the speech vibrations from your jaw. This enables Jawbone to capture the distinct frequencies of your voice. Proprietary DSP algorithms work in concert with two powerful microphones and the VAS to accurately model surrounding noise and aggressively eliminate it from the conversation. Conventional "noise suppression" headsets do not have a Voice Activity Sensor and can only estimate when speech is occurring. This causes performance issues like voice distortion, especially in the presence background noise. Not Just a Headset, It's Earwear Made with premium materials like medical-grade plastic and fine leather, the new Jawbone with NoiseAssassin combines science and beauty in the most unassuming, yet richly detailed product. Every effort has been made to contain best in class noise suppression technology in a miniature form that is 50 percent smaller than the original, award-winning Jawbone. The new Jawbone accomplishes a clean and sophisticated look thanks to invisible buttons. Touch-surface technology allows the user to operate switches by lightly pressing the outer shield. Curved and rectilinear to follow the face, the outer shield is lightly textured and inspired by three-dimensional noise abatement surfaces. The infer surface, the one touching your face and creating contact with the Voice Activity Sensor, is gently curved to be ergonomic and comfortable on your skin. Offering a comfortable and personalized fit, the new Jawbone comes with three sizes of earbuds and four earloops--two sizes of leather and two of slim, which are ideal for use with eyeglasses. Jawbone can also be worn on either ear and with or without an earloop. Specifications - Talk time: Over 4 hours

- Weight: 10 grams (0.35 ounces)

Great Product, Dont believe the hater's July 29, 2010 MarkLIVE! This is a great product, the noise cancellation is awesome. It's a professional ear piece, you need to make sure it fits before go about your day.
What people are misleading is the buttons. Its not touch sensitive. They are actual buttons that you press, just make sure when you are adjusting it (while talking on the phone) that you handle it on the side and not the actual front plate of it. The instructions that come with it will show you everything you need to know to make sure you got it right.
You'll notice the noise cancelling for sure when its fitted in your ear, cause ill be going about my day and it feels my right ear (thats where i wear it) is silent. You'll love the device. Totally worth the price. Will buy many more!
Big disappointment!!! July 9, 2010 Chopin Patel (Buena Park, CA United States) I had followed Jawbone products ever since they were introduced, but my old bluetooth headsets were working just fine so I never bought a Jawbone. Also the price is generally high, so you think twice if you want to purchase it as a spare.
Finally, I lost my Plantronics Discovery 655. So I started researching the best one I could find for under $50. After reading many reviews, even some convincing me not to purchase a Jawbone, I purchased one anyway. I was able to get it for $40 which I thought was a steal (from Walmart).
Where do I begin, my problems started as soon as the headset was charged and ready to be paired. I have paired so many bluetooth headsets prior to this, so this should have been no sweat. Well, my pairing just hanged, I kept restarting the phone, restarted the headset several times. Finally accidentally it paired the device, so I attempted to make my first call, unfortunately I couldn't hear anything. Back to restarting headset until it worked. Once I had the headset working, I left it alone.
Later in the day, I get a phone call and tried answering with the bluetooth headset, which failed miserably, as it answered the call but I couldn't hear anything. It had suddenly lost connection to the headset, just like that.
In short, the headset had tendency to loose connection on a regular basis. If and when the headset did work, the volume was very low. If you try to hold the headset to push it in your ear to help the hearing, you end up pressing the hidden button and hang up the caller. The outside shell is a hidden button which turns the bluetooth on/off.
All in all, the long wait was disappointing. I did finally purchase a competing product "BlueAnt Q1" which was in direct comparison with Jawbone Prime. One of the "professional" review I had read favored the Jawbone by a tad bit. My experience has been exactly the opposite. BlueAnt Q1 was extremely easy to pair, worked flawless since pairing and still looking for a con. My wife verified that sound quality was excellent, she could not tell that I was driving while talking to her on the phone. I even went ahead and opened the front windows half way and still she had no idea.
I wished my Jawbone Prime worked as well as BlueAnt Q1, I wouldn't have returned it.
I LOVE my Jawbone!!!!!!!!! July 9, 2010 Patty Pat I have tried soooooo many bluetooth ear sets and they would last for a season and then.... well you know the rest.... down hill from there. God forbid if I dropped it in water. Not even the "rice trick" worked. But can I tell you the the JAWBONE not only arrived in a FABULOUS packaging but it looks sleek and it IS THE MOST RELIABLE EAR PIECE I've had to date!! THe perfect fit is up to you. They give you soooo many adjustable options in the pack earplugs and ear hooks to produce the ideal fit. I was sooo tired of people saying to me "I can't hear you" or me getting so much static on a business call that I'd have to call them back later from a landline. OR how about having to place the cell phone on my shoulder to get it close to my old ear piece because my pocket was too far for reception LOLOL!! Thank you Jawbone for rescuing me from my woes and allowing me to enjoy my life, my business and cell phone again. P.S. I've purchased 5 over the past year for me and friends and about to order one more for my new business partner. I LOVE IT!!!
Beware! June 23, 2010 T. Thompson (GA USA) Had an earlier version that worked beautifully but got lost in the woods. Replaced with this model from Amazon.
Tried all earbud sizes furnished, but NONE WILL STAY IN THE EAR. Result: Jawbone flops wildly in a few seconds,
making it totally useless.
Only item bought from Amazon that is totally dissatisfying.
A Waste of money, they dump these on Amazon June 21, 2010 S. Juring (deployed to Afghanistan) I bought this for my wife so she could talk to me while driving to work, I am deployed to Afghanistan and call her with skype. She told me it didn't work at all and I thought she had just done something wrong. but when I came home on leave I tried to charge it and the charge light would not even come on. it had been over 30 days and I could not ask for a replacement, It is a sorry state of the way things are when the quality of what you buy is so bad that you almost have to test it at purchase to make sure it works.
We had an older model that we bought a few years ago that worked fine except for having to charge it almost every day, before it stopped working. I was just worried about my wafe talking on the phone while driving that I considered buying this, because the noise cancelling was great while driving using the old one.
